Dear friends,

In the midst of the accelerating racial and social dissonance, I have been honored to work with communities to cultivate trust, rebuild alliances and establish communities of belonging where everyone can thrive.

My dispatches from across the country have chronicled how ordinary people can open their minds, hearts and homes to someone like me. But In spite of our collective progress, this election season affirmed that polarization remains rampant.

We continue to need leaders who take us beyond our differences by weaving people and perspectives together. And it’s not just a few leaders we need. We need millions, both traditional and non-traditional, in every walk of life who are ready to facilitate and embody change.

Following the example of my mentors — Mama Lila Cabbil, Ms. Jacqueline Martin, Aunty Puanani Burgess, and Maestro Jerry Tello, these leaders show their strength not by leading from the top, but by leading from the center. They ground their work in local communities working face-to-face, arm in arm, one-peace-at-a-time.

In this spirit, I am pleased to share that the Kahakulei Institute is providing a new offering -

Leading from the Center
a new approach for effective leadership

Our program develops and supports leaders who can bridge differences and help people find common ground. Such leaders will invite rather than demand, connect people with purpose, leverage their own gifts, and shed light on the gifts that others possess, creating teams that are more harmonious, effective and sustainable.

We are excited about this evolution in our work and invite you to join this vibrant new journey in the following ways –

  1. Please read this overview of Leading from the Center and share it with your network.
  2. If you would like to find out more about Leading from the Center, please contact me at kevin@kahakulei.com to schedule a consultation.

I look forward to connecting with you in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you for your continued support and care.
